The events of last Tuesday night have left me uneasy, as a colleague and respected journalist was cut down for being in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

I only spoke to Amber a handful of times, but it didn’t take much to get an idea of her what she was like. The media reports have it right on – she was happy, she was kind and she treated everyone with the utmost respect. I cannot explain why I feel a deep sense of loss from someone I barely knew. My editor, a close friend of hers, said she was vastly connected with the journalism community in Calgary and Alberta. And perhaps I feel like I am a part of that community now and empathize with them.

RIP Amber.

Never gonna give it up…

It’s hard to believe that the infamous Rick Rolling meme has is still alive and… rolling for over a year now. According to SurveyUSA, it’s reached 18 million Americans. Though the number is hugely underestimated since the survey didn’t include users under the age of 18. Those little buggers are the reason why the prank spawned and spread throughout the Internets.

Although, you have to admit: When a mainstream TV show picks up on these internet meme, it’s pretty damn cool.

EDIT: It seems the original video is down (Damn you Fox Network) so I’ll have to replace it with one that doesn’t have video, just sound. I know it’s lame, but it’ll do for now.

Or my favourite

EDIT: The original video is ALSO down, and I can’t find a full non-spanish version yet. It was the scene where Homer Simpson takes a photo of himself every day, a homage to this guy.

I want one.

This gem came up on Gizmodo and I can’t help but spread awesome blast from the past around.

The premise is simple. Take your exisiting 1980’s ghetto blaster and mold it into a wearable jacket. The speakers appear to strapped into the shoulder pads, providing maximum comfort and sound accessibility. You know it’s a quality product when they shoot the SAME clip back to back, cause that works (umm…).

But one badass thing I noticed was at the 0.17sec mark.

It’s a tricycle… Sweet.

Yeahhhh

After more than a year of inactivity, I’ve decided to try my hand at blogging again. Because I’m trying to become a writer, and be cool. And that’s what cool writers do. Not like the net isn’t saturated enough with it, but I’ll try to focus on a common theme in this here blog: What I find interesting. This may include the following in absolute order. Pysch.

Techno-mumbo-jumbo.

Videogames and other non-human interaction.

Freesbies.

Music.

So let’s begin!
